Lorain Skate World Opened on October 1, 1975. Purchased as an old motel that was part of a larger area used as a truck stop, the original owners decided to keep the motel and use as offices, skate room and restrooms for the new vision he had-Skate World! Interesting fact: The building was also blueprinted to be a trade school in the event roller skating didn't work out.
Lorain had been without a roller rink for about 7 years after the Lorain Arena had closed. Lorain Arena was proceeded by the Lorain Coliseum, which had burned down at 3 am on May 5, 1952.
Roller skating in Lorain is still "rolling strong" after 45 years and the Lorain Skate World family would like you to help us celebrate this milestone. We're offering some celebratory events between September and April to recognize our 45th season.
